Jetblue never set out to dominate europe or have a massive operation. They’ve got 35 a321ceos with mint, why not throw on 2 acts (auxiliary center tanks), extend the range, and use them more strategically? Jetblue mint disrupted the premium travel market when it was introduced on the typical transcon routes jfk/lax and jfk/sfo, and other carriers began matching jetblue's initial discount fares.
The feb 2025 issue of airways, which will be on news stands soon, has a nice article about jet blue's first day of operation; An airways writer was on jet blue's first 4 flights. They had a product (mint) and a plane (321)that could do some of the top european destinations in two of their important hubs.
Jetblue is much more a lcc than a boutique carrier/mainline carrier. Yeah, i get that acts eat into cargo space, but honestly, sometimes you’ve got to work with what you’ve got. Congratulations to jet blue for making it so long. The call sign is jetblue (creative) and the code is b6 it be cool if they went with callsign bingo, cause the code is b6 brian
February 11 will be jet blue's 25th anniversary. The product was a success, and jetblue continues to expand the offering to additional routes. I don’t want to get moderated but you are correct it is the same people. Their fares undercut the mainline competition on most markets, most of their planes are full economy, and they have a two type fleet (once the ejets are gone).
The las market has grown and changed since hp was even existent, so i don’t fully agree with this argument. Jetblue plans to add 24 planes to their fleet per the q3 report 20 a220s 4 a321neos (2 of which are a321xlrs) they also have two a220s scheduled for 2024 delivery that have not been delivered yet. Jetblue airways there are 7,639 photos for airline jetblue airways in the aviation photo database. Very few new entrant airlines lasted 5 years, let alone 25;
That being said 5 fas is not a requirement for the staffing and the plane is certified to be sent out with the minimum crew of 3, even london can be sent with 3 fas if needed. I’ve been wondering why jetblue doesn’t just make the most of what they already have. Jetblue runs a terrible operation, has unqualified elt/bod, horrible route network and will be filing for bankruptcy in the near future.
